The Land of If Only
Many of us spend our lives in the Land of If Only. Today, stop wishing and stop thinking “if only…” and do something to make your dreams come true.
You want to be healthier?
You want to lose weight?
You want to have a job you love?
You want to have more money?
Find the Motivation to Move Forward
Figure out one major factor that is keeping you from achieving your desire and figure out a way to solve that single problem. That’s it. Just take one small step today. Next week, do the same thing. When you start getting used to the format and you are closer to reaching your goals, you may find that you can make these changes faster than a week.
For example, if you wish to have a more organized home, the first step is to figure out why you can’t keep it organized. Maybe you don’t have enough space for items. Maybe you don’t finish things after you start them because you lose motivation. Maybe you’re not good at putting things away when you are done using. There could be a single reason or a myriad of reasons, but it’s important to pinpoint the reason(s) behind it.
Once you know the major factor preventing the fulfillment of your dream, you can work towards completing that each task every day. You may find that your dream isn’t really to have an organized home; it may simply be a byproduct of a habit that actually affects multiple areas of your life, not just the organization of your home. In addition to this, focusing on a large and daunting project like organizing your home may cause you to lose motivation. However, focusing on a single habit is completely doable, you see progress immediately.
Everybody knows the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. (Thank you, Lao Tzu, for those amazing words of wisdom!) Don’t be frozen in inaction. Take a step. Just a little one. Eventually they will add up to so much more.
